BOTOX® (Botulinum Toxin)

“Botox” is the trade name for Botulinum Toxin A, a neurotoxic protein extracted from the bacteria called Clostridium Botulinum which produced a toxin named Botulinum Toxin.

There are 7 types of Botulinum Toxins, which are Type A-G, but Botulinum Toxin Type A and B are the only 2 types that provide beneficial qualifications for medical usage. The first type is conventionally used for aesthetic medicine, while another type is a part of the treatment for ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis).

How Does Botox Work?

Botulinum Toxin has the potential to suppress the neurons (also known as nerve cells) from producing Acetylcholine, the chemical causing muscle contraction and relaxation, which could temporarily loosen the muscles. Therefore, the skin around the injected area appears smoother and more relax. Purified extracts from Botulinum Toxin can be used in both medical treatment and cosmetic surgery.

Nefertiti Lift

Nefertiti lift is the Botox injection technique used to loosen tension in the Platysma muscles, located on the neck area causing the sagging face and flabby skin under the jowl. Loosen the pull of Platysma muscle, the muscle on the face can lift the sagging skin back up. This technique can tighten the skin on the neck and make the jawline looks defined.

Why Can’t We See the Result Immediately After The Injection?

Since human skin cells contain the protuberances with neurotransmitters, we need to wait for the former set of neurotransmitters to wear down, despite the fact that Botox immediately block the neurons from producing more Acetylcholine right after the injection. Thus, we still have to wait up to 1-2 weeks too see the final result.

Preparation Before Botox Injection

ก่อนฉีด 1 สัปดาห์ ควรหยุดกินวิตามินอี น้ำมันปลา คอลลาเจน สารสกัดแปะก๊วย (กิงโกะ) ยาลดการแข็งตัวของเลือด และยาแก้ปวดบางชนิด (แอสไพรินและยาในกลุ่ม NSAIDs) เนื่องจากอาหารเสริมและยาเหล่านี้ทำให้เลือดออกแล้วหยุดยาก อาจทำให้มีรอยเขียวช้ำจากอาการเลือดออกใต้ผิวหนังเพิ่มขึ้น นอกจากนี้หากมีโรคประจำตัว เคยมีประวัติแพ้ยาหรืออาหารเสริม กำลังตั้งครรภ์หรืออยู่ในระยะให้นมบุตร ควรแจ้งแพทย์ก่อนฉีดเช่นเดียวกัน
