Many people with large, protruding cheeks due to fat accumulation often choose to inject fat-dissolving agents to reduce the fat.
However, there is another popular method, which is cheek fat reduction surgery, to remove fat permanently.
Cheek fat is a mass of fat naturally present in the body, located deep between the muscles used for chewing, varying in amount from person to person. Cheek fat reduction surgery is an option that helps solve the problem and increases confidence.
Advantages of Cheek Fat Reduction Surgery
- Resolves issues of chubby, puffy, or overly full cheeks permanently, reducing cheek size.
- Results are clearly visible compared to exercise and diet control, which may not lead to significant changes, especially in people with a genetic predisposition or existing facial structure.
- Permanent fat removal surgery, as it removes fat from the cheek fat pad, not excess fat under the skin, which is less likely to recur or regenerate.
- No need for frequent repeat procedures, unlike liposuction or fat-dissolving injections, which often need to be repeated every 1-3 years.
- Small incisions, mostly less than 2 centimeters, inside the mouth, invisible, fast recovery.
Aftercare
- Apply cold compress with cold pack gel for the first 3 days, then switch to warm compress for about 3 days. Use 6 cold compress points in total as follows:
- Left eye area
- Right eye area
- Left cheek
- Right cheek
- Between the eyebrows
- Sleep with your head elevated (use a neck support pillow) and avoid sleeping on your side for 1 month.
- Avoid fermented or strongly flavored foods for 1 month; consume foods with a mild taste instead.
- Avoid alcohol and smoking for 1 month.
- Avoid scratching or touching the nose; if itchy, use a cotton swab dipped in saltwater to gently wipe, and be careful not to bump the nose.
- Avoid getting the incision wet for about 1 week.
- Avoid heavy exercise or sports that involve impact for 4 weeks.
- Take medication as prescribed by the doctor, such as anti-inflammatory, pain reliever, and antibiotics, and follow up with the doctor as scheduled.
- Apply cold compress with a cotton swab dipped in saltwater and honey to the incision, 1-2 times a day until the scab falls off.
For those who have undergone cheek fat reduction surgery, it is recommended to rinse the mouth with plain water after eating each time.
Post-Surgery Symptoms
- Swelling and bruising may occur for 2-3 days and can be relieved with cold compress for 3 days, followed by warm compress for another 3 days.
- Tightness around the incision may be felt initially after surgery, as the wound has not healed. It may take about 5-7 days for the tightness to gradually decrease.
- If there is unusual pain or other abnormal symptoms, consult a doctor immediately, such as:
- Inflammation at the incision, such as pain, redness, or pus discharge.
- Bleeding that does not stop.
- Low blood pressure or feeling weak.
Diet After Surgery: 3 Foods to Avoid Completely!
- Spicy or hot foods: These can cause a runny nose and increase the risk of infection, as nasal discharge is a secretion that carries germs.
- Fermented foods: These can make the wound more prone to infection, such as spicy papaya salad, fermented shrimp paste, pickled bamboo shoots, etc.
- Seafood or salty foods: Due to their high sodium content, they can cause water retention, slow wound healing, and increase the risk of infection.
